Introducing [Your] Places Held - commissioned cyanotypes made in response to a place you have come to know deeply - an overgrown corner of a childhood garden, an abandoned car park of wild poppies, a tree pit, or a landscape you help tend.
The cyanotype will be toned with a botanical connected to the landscape, or one we choose together for the stories it carries. Two of my favourites include hawthorn, associated with spring and boundaries, and rosemary, associated with remembrance.
Together, we’ll work with your photograph and the stories of the place it comes from. We can stay true to the original image composition, or I can crop, reframe, or draw out a fragment.
[Your] Places Held is an extension of my practice and place-based work, exploring how we encounter and attend to landscapes. Each piece is an original toned cyanotype, up to 10 × 8 inches, made on Hahnemühle Platinum Rag paper.
I have space to take on a couple more commissions before the end of the year. If you have a place or photograph in mind, I’d love to hear about it. Full info here.
